The town

Apple Valley voted to incorporate on November 28, 1988, and is one of the few places in California that calls itself a town rather than a city. It sits at about 2,917 feet above sea level on the floor of the Victor Valley, east of the Mojave River, with Victorville on the other side of the river and Hesperia to the south. The name comes from the apple orchards planted here a century ago. Roy Rogers and Dale Evans lived in Apple Valley from 1965 and are buried at Sunset Hills Memorial Park in town, and the Apple Valley Inn they helped make famous still stands on Highway 18.

Apple Valley Townhomes fits that: low buildings on about four acres, nobody living above or below you, and a fenced backyard off every home. The homes are one, two and three bedroom townhomes. The single-level one bedroom is about 660 square feet from $1,050 a month, the two bedroom townhome about 930 square feet from $1,395, and the three bedroom townhomes run to about 1,236 square feet. Every home has central heat and air, a gas range, and a dining area that opens onto its own fenced backyard with a deck. Each open home shows its current rent on the availability page.
